The UF Police Department is a progressive, accredited law enforcement agency providing public service and protection to a community of nearly 80,000 people with 95 law enforcement officers and 25 civilian staff. Mr. Vellis promoted through ranks retiring in 2005 as Captain. He supervised both law enforcement and civilian personnel, develop security programs, training, and public safety presentations. He worked in Patrol, Criminal Investigations and Crime Prevention. From 2005-2009 he worked for i2 Inc, the leading worldwide provider of investigative analysis software for law enforcement, government, Military, Intelligence and commercial organizations as the Sales representative for the Southeast US and the Caribbean. He developed and implemented data analysis technology projects primarily for law enforcement organizations. His law enforcement background and the business skills allowed him to double territory revenue in two years and consistently produced $1 M+ in revenue. He survived two high pressure careers and is now actively working on the next big adventure in his life, writing. He has have always enjoyed writing, his professional experience, however, was limited to writing reports, proposals and the occasional article for law enforcement journals.He spent his limited free time writing short fiction and day dreaming about one day publishing a story.
